HRT iStreamer 12V

The HRT iStreamer-12V is a product that makes the music coming out of an iPad, iPhone or iPod sound dramatically better when connected to your car, boat, motorcycle or other 12V entertainment system. iStreamer is not designed to be used with PC or Mac computers. Rather, it is a high performance external sound card/audio interface that has been specifically designed to exclusively interface with modern iDevices such as the iPod touch® (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gen), iPod classic®, iPod nano® (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th gen), iPhone 4®, iPhone 3GS®, iPhone 3G®, iPhone®, iPad®, iPad (3G)®, iPad 2®, and the New (2012) iPad®. iStreamer captures the direct digital music stream coming from the iDevice and takes over the job of decoding the bits into analogue music.

iStreamer-12V is easy to use: simply connect one end of the supplied RCA cables (or a set that you prefer to use) to the two RCA jacks on the iStreamer-12V, the other end of the RCA cables connects to any available analogue RCA input on your vehicle's stereo head unit or preamplifier (in some cases you may need to use an RCA-to-1/8" stereo mini-plug if your car stereo unit has a 1/8" stereo female jack as an auxiliary analogue input). Then connect the (proprietary) synch cable from the iStreamer-12V to your iDevice, attach the power cord, and look for the flashing light on the iStreamer-12V that indicates that it has "paired" with your iDevice. You can now push 'Play' on your iDevice's iPod App and you are off and playing back tunes with up to CD-quality sound, depending on the quality and resolution of the song file being played*. Even the lowliest MP3 file sounds richer, bolder, and more dynamic compared to playing the same song directly from the iDevice.

iStreamer-12V draws power from a vehicle's 12VDC power system via the included compact 12VDC power supply that simply fits into your vehicle's or boat's cigarette lighter or spare 12VDC auxiliary outlet**. With its Apple-approved, ultra high performance circuitry and "host mode" of operation that eliminates jitter in the digital interface, the iStreamer-12V, combined with your iDevice, renders a vehicle's CD player/changer and a library of physical product obsolete. For the first time, you can enjoy a level of sound quality never before possible from a portable audio device in your vehicle or boat. A great side benefit of using the iStreamer-12V is that it actually charges your iDevice as it plays music extending its playtime.

The iStreamer-12V provides full support for applications designed to run on an iPad®, iPhone®, or iPod®, as well as allowing you to listen to internet radio stations and streaming music services and the audio content of on-line movie services such as Netflix and the like (assuming your vehicle or boat has a screen to watch!). As a bonus, if you buy and use the available/separate 115VAC power supply instead of the 12V one supplied with the unit, you can use your iStreamer-12V to interface with the stereo set in your home of office with the same great sound!

* iDevices are limited by Apple to play, at the maximum, 16bit/48k files, which is supported by the iStreamer 115V
** HRT makes two versions of the iStreamer, iStreamer 115V with a (universal) power supply designed to run off of the local AC mains that accepts voltages anywhere from 110-240V AC, while the other (iStreamer-12V)comes with a compact 12VDC power supply that simply fits into your vehicle's or boat's cigarette lighter or spare 12V DC auxiliary outlet. Other than the different power supplies, the two versions of the HRT iStreamer are identical.
