AUDIOFREAKS PRODUCTS IN THE SUMMER 2007 AUDIO PRESS

While Summer months usually suggest reduced activities in all directions, Audiofreaks products have had a pretty active couple of months in terms of UK and international press coverage.

In the issue 52 of the Hi-Fi+ magazine, Roy Gregory performed a pretty unique exercise of comparing several generically related conrad-johnson valve power amplifiers and both the results of his involvement as well as the reading of this, well written, article are most illuminating. Steve Harris wrote about the conrad-johnson PV15 valve remote line/phono preamplifier and had complimentary things to say about one of the very few single-chassis high-end valve preamplifiers offering not just the usual line level facility, but also a proper phono stage for mc cartridges within the same enclosure. Further, there was also a review of the Kuzma Stabi S/Stogi S turntable and tonearm package in the September issue of the Hi-Fi World magazine. While it was most rewarding to read Adam Smith¹s positive comments and overall appreciation of both products, it was somewhat sad to witness another example of less than fortunate application of the product (inadequate directly related component used with the products under review). While with the Kuzma brand, Hi=Fi+ also wrote an update piece on the Stabi XL4 turntable (4-motor optional solution) which confirmed an already known fact about the vast improvement two additional drive motors bring to this superb analogue product. Perhaps not as important as it may look, please do have a read in the current issue of H-Fi+ about the new finite elemente Ceraball Universal supporting feet as with their predecessor, sonic improvements are very evident and never missing. Last, but not least, The Absolute Sound (USA) magazine wrote in its August 2007 issue (173) about the conrad-johnson CA200 Control Amplifier and Harry Pearson also gave the limited edition conrad-johnson ART Series 3 Line Preamplifier the 2007 Golden Ear Award in this category of high-end audio components.

Not bad at all over a period of just a couple of months with more to come.
