VIENNA ACOUSTICS LOUDSPEAKERS BACK IN THE UK

After two episodes of randomly spaced presence on these shores over the past few decades, Vienna Acoustics dynamic loudspeaker systems have become a crucial element of our brand portfolio since 1st July 2016. It is with great pleasure and honour to announce our involvement with this long-standing and globally acclaimed producer of true high-end dynamic loudspeakers (from Austria), which blend perfectly with our other products and, to be frank, any other true high-end audio component regardless of type or brand.
As many of our followers over almost 30 years know only too well, we are extremely selective when loudspeakers are on the agenda. After many years of first hand experience with the very best electrostatic designs (still closest to natural sounds if executed correctly, we feel), it is almost our mandatory obsession to expect the impossible - for dynamic loudspeakers to give seamless, naturally musical and transparent broad midrange, extremely low overall distortion, good frequency extremes control, plus all other virtues “boxes” exhibit as a matter of course over any open panel concept. After having spent over 10 years with a specific brand of dynamic loudspeakers which, almost miraculously, met 99% of the aforementioned criteria, any hope of discovering another brand of the kind came pretty close to a delusional obsession! But, nothing is ever impossible and here we are enjoying a broad range of Vienna Acoustics loudspeakers for, hopefully, many years to come.
Why Vienna Acoustics? Because Peter Gansterer, the designer of all VA products, knows how real music sounds, irrespective of genre. Because the company is almost 30 years old, functions and operates like a harmonious family of not too many members who have been with the business for many, many years. Because the craftsmanship of the woodwork and execution in real life are impeccable, outstanding and with a superb level of precision and finesse. Because all VA drive units are proprietary designs executed by some of the most respected manufacturers of the very same. Because VA loudspeakers SOUND like MUSIC no matter how big or small the speaker is. And, finally, because they cost so much less than far too many other loudspeakers of similar size, aspiration and (theoretical, if not true) potential.
Starting at £1,399 (incl. VAT per pair) for the lovely stand-mount HAYDN Grand Symphony Edition and all the way to the flagship THE MUSIC (£21,900 incl. VAT per pair), there is a perfectly sensible selection of floor-standing designs which will, we are confident, become a welcome addition to many true high-end audio and home entertainment systems in UK homes before too long.

AFI “flat” RECORD (LP) FLATTENER

Another “first” for Audiofreaks as it happens! Here is a product that can be looked at as an “accessory”, but the complexity of its design, function and purpose, let alone the cost, suggest we have something much more along the lines of a full scale and perfectly rightful “audio component”. AFI is an abbreviation for Audio Fidelity Improvement - the manufacturer of flat that officially carries the title of a “record flattener”, although it does much more than just de-warping LPs that have, to a various extent, lost their absolute flatness.
flat restores the flatness of LPs, 12-inch and 7-inch singles in a simple and effective manner with pre-programmed processes that are available at a press of a button. A perfectly even distribution of heat and ideal temperatures within a precise amount of time bring results that have not been possible to achieve so far. A very special and distinctive feature of the flat is what is called a Restoration Program. The vinyl record under treatment is heated to a carefully chosen (not excessively high) temperature and, after treatment also cooled down very slowly, evenly and in a controlled manner. Such a thermal process generates a considerable sonic improvement in almost every record that has been “restored”.
flat is an elegant and beautifully crafted device which, in addition to it’s practical virtues, also looks good within any interior space or environment. While not inexpensive, it deserves a serious consideration of every dedicated LP collector and follower of analogue LP playback systems.
The UK introductory price of the flat has been set at £2,499 incl. VAT and delivery (mainland UK) and, for now, will be available directly from us as the AFI exclusive distributors for UK & Ireland. After the 15th October 2016, list price of this product will be £2,695 incl VAT.
